16 hours every day. Do you know his age? He was 70 years old. Even at 70, he
used to read for 16 hours! When did he sleep? When did he

Sometimes he forgot to bathe and eat while he set himself to reading. If one peeped at his room, one would see that there were piles of books everywhere. This story goes eight hundred and fifty back. It is astonishing to know about this old man. Even a learned man gets amazed at his wisdom. This old man was born in green and beautiful Spain.
The old man was appointed a Kazi. He became a famous kazi as he was neutral. He always stood for justice. He gave punishment if one did the wrong. He served as a Kazi at Sevila for two years and at Cordova for 12 years. His wisdom might be compared to the depth of an ocean. But he did not continue as a Kazi for the whole life. His thirst for knowledge was not satisfied with this profession. He wanted to learn more. So he left his job and started to study again. He studied on science, specially medical science. He wanted to explore the causes of different diseases. Famous physicians, 'Hekims', 'Kabiraj' were defeated to the knowledge of the old man. He felt the pulse of the patient and diagnosed the disease. He wrote many books on the symptoms of diseases and on how to treat patients. The patients came to him and got cured. His reputation spread around. Even the famous doctors of our time respect him. The number of his books on medicine is 18. His famous book on the subject is "Kulliat Fil Tib". He first gave the information that pox attacks human body only once, not twice.
Abu Yakub Yusuf, Caliph of Morocco, invited him and appointed him to be the chief physician. After Abu Yakub Yusuf, Al-Monsur became the Caliph and retained him as his royel physician.
But some people brought charges against his writings. People misunderstood him and consequently Al-Monsur sacked him. Then he came back to his own country, to Cordova. He again began to study for 16 hours. He was then 70. After some time, Al-Monsur realized the conspiracy of the people.

Ibn Rushd read all the writings of Aristotle and Plato thoroughly. He translated their writings and introduced them to Europe. The bishops of churches criticized Ibn Rushed for his theory. In fact, Ibn Rushd had uncovered the malpractice of church people of that time. So the churchmen were against him. In the mean time all his writings on Plato and Aristotle were made compulsory in Paris University, Northern University of Italy and Padua University. His fame flourished all over Europe.
He began his studies with the recitation of the holy Quran. He used to read the Quran and Hadith at home. This learning helped him throughout his life. He read a lot of books and commented on them. He studied and learnt law, justice, medicine and disease. He studied philosophy and history too.
